House edge
The operator's expected mathematical advantage for specified game rules and player decisions, expressed as a percentage of stakes. A 1% house edge means an expected $1 loss per $100 wagered over the long run. It is not a prediction for one session.

House edge: a practical example
At a 2% house edge, $500 in total wagers has an expected loss of $10: $500 × 0.02. Total wagers include money repeatedly staked from the same balance, not just the first deposit.
Common misunderstanding
Expected loss is a mathematical average, not a session forecast. Game rules and player decisions can affect the edge in decision-based games; a betting progression does not erase it.
Examples use hypothetical inputs. Operator terms must be checked separately.
